WOW!  We had over 65 people enter the Suri Cruise drawing!!!  I was so excited!  A new blog that talks about a little ‘o nothin getting over 300 hits that day alone.  *heart soar*  I’ll forever be grateful to Katja at Skimbaco!  Keep scrolling to the bottom, I have a HUGE announcement to make!

And now without further ado….the winner of the $30 gift certificate is:  BECCA!  Either Katja or I will be in touch.

Suri Cruise Shoes Winner

Now for an even BIGGER announcement and one that will help thousands of women with the vision Katja has set for herself and her new found, FREE PR service for small businesses and bloggers.  YES she is REALLY that generous.  Ladybug Landings is a no-cost service, and people already know: she personally answer to e-mails and questions.

Currently she is gathering information from a few of us and will launch the new program soon!  It’s called Ladybug Landings, after all, “Luck Lands Breifly. Be ready.”  Is her mantra!  And she’s not letting an one ounce of paying it forward pass her by.  A woman after my own heart.  I absolutely LOVE & ADORE someone who pays it forward.

In order to get this program off the ground to offer it completely FREE to small businesses and bloggers she has set up a store to help offset the cost.   There are some darling Ladybug products to choose from (I am a journal and tote lover!).

Click on the cute t-shirt to visit her store and stay tuned HERE for an announcement as to WHERE you can get these free services for your business and/or blog.

Fight the Frump…With Routine

Posted on May 16th, 2008 in Fight the Frump by Darla

This week’s Fighting the Frump is being held by Karla at Looking Toward Heaven.  She’s carrying on the Frump Fighting while Mrs Fussypants enjoys her new baby boy #5 (born Wednesday just after lunch) for the next few weeks.

This last week I was reminded by my friend, RemodelThatLife about getting back to the basics.  I thought - you’re right!  So, I went back to what I know best, which is Flylady and watching my weight.  WHY is that watching my weight must be part of this category for my ENTIRE life? *sigh*  Ok, enough whining…

I’d love to hear your morning routine (which according to Flylady really starts at night).  I’ll share hers - I probably won’t get it 100% right I’ve modified it so much - and add my comments starting with my night routine.  It really does help to fight the frump (I’ve used enough mineral makeup in a short amount of time to know the difference.)

Evening Routine:
Check my schedule for tomrrow’s events
Dishes in dishwasher
Shine the kitchen sink
Get out ingredients for tomorrow night’s dinner (I hate using the microwave so this is a must)
Clear off all hotspots (WHY oh WHY do the hotspots gather so fast!!!)
Lay out clothes for next day
Shower (this way all I have to do is spritz my hair in the am for super fast defrumping)
Brush teeth & floss  (I wish I could tell you I was better at this)
Moisturize face & eyes (I am a sucker for a good eye cream)
Go to bed at a decent hour (I’m usually in bed way before 10)

Morning Routine:
Hit the ground FLYing (yeah more like hit the alarm sleep button 3 times before rising, or is that just me…)
Make the bed (this really does help fight the magnetic pillow  from being stuck to your head)
Do your hair & makeup  (shower if you do that in the am, for me I just spritz my hair and dry)
Get dressed all the way to lacing up your shoes (the shoe part is where I fail miserably.  I only have 2 pairs that lace up and they are tennies and thoese are frumpy IMO).
Swish and swipe the bathroom (I have taken to doing 1 bathroom a day so I switch each day to cover them all)
Unload the dishwasher
Eat breakfast & take your vitamins
Throw in a load of laundry

Routine is a big deal (apparently as much as I try to live without one) and I do so much better.  Consider joining up for flylady if you haven’t already to help you get rid of a frumpy routine.

What is YOUR biggest routine frump fighter?  Please share!

P.S. Be SURE to check back later today for the winner of the Suri Cruise or $30 Skimbaco gift certificate!

W8loss + Thursday = points!

Posted on May 15th, 2008 in weight loss by Darla

This is my third day of WW and so far I have lost 2 pounds (I know I’m not supposed to weigh myself every day..shhh).

I don’t think I can give you the actual points, something about a trademark, so I’ll just give you an idea of what I’ve been eating (this will help keep me accountable as well).

Tuesday:
Banana
Fiber One cereal  (this is actually yummy!)
3 Light Cow Cheese triangle (swiss flavor)
Celery
1% Cottage Cheese
5 cup Jolly Time Popcorn 94% fat free (this is amazing flavorful!)
6 Jolly Rancher hard candies (if I could just give up this little bit of sugar, ahhhh)
Dinner:
Chicken & long grain Rice w/Corn that had  Canned tomatoes & Tomato juice in it

Wednesday:
Fiber One
Grapes
Celery
3 Light Cow Cheese (swiss flavor)
Baked Potato
1% Cottage Cheese
3 Jolly Ranchers (hard candy)  (I cut it in half from the day before and it didn’t kill me. LOL)
Dinner:
Shrimp w/Long Grain Rice that had Canned Tomatoes & Chicken broth in it.

I didn’t eat all my points yesterday (a big no-no) but honestly I was STUFFED.  I’m amazed at how much you can eat and still lose weight.  When I did program late fall/early winter I kept my food list pretty short.  This time I’ve branched out and it makes a huge difference.

The other thing I have done is signed up for the message boards and have been reading like crazy whenever I I get a chance.  I’ve learned a TON of tricks and recipes on there that I would have never found elsewhere.

Sincerely Fro Me to You!

Posted on May 15th, 2008 in Trip Down Memory Lane by Darla

I’m joning We are THAT Family again this week for a trip down memory lane.  This is my little guy when he was just three years old.  Can you stand it?  Don’t you want to just eat him up, he’s so delictable!  What a doll in his little hat and big boy jeans.  He was so proud of those jeans (you can’t see them in this picture but I know they’re on him!).  I remember the day we put them on him, he glowed like such a big guy….

My heart broke…..

Just as it does every day that he turns a day older.  As much as I love the young boy he has grown into being, I miss this little guy every.single.day.  *heavy sigh*

It’s great to have pictures like this to remind me (or pull on my heart strings every time I walk down the hall LOL) of just where we’ve been and where we have yet to go on this great journey we call life.

Love you my little guy, always and forever.

Sincerely fro me to you

Wednesday + W8 Loss = Weight Watchers

Posted on May 14th, 2008 in weight loss by Darla

Spring is here (altho I still have the heat on since it’s frigid this morning) and none of these pounds seem to be melting off on their own I decided to join Weight Watchers and force them off.  I was on the program last fall/early winter and lost 10#.  It’s a proven plan that works as long as I do, so I’m back on the saddle again.

I chose the flex plan (vs the core plan) but I may switch over here in a couple of weeks after I get the portion sizes under control.

I have to say for getting a daily allotment of just over 20 points I wasn’t hungry like I thought I would be.  There are a lot of 0 point options and 1 point options, so hunger hasn’t been a problem.

All of you Wonderful Weight Watchers people out there, give a girl a shout and and let me know which program (core or flex) worked/is working for you and why.

Any tips would be great too!  I am enjoying the message boards and learned to put cottage cheese on a baked potato, which I think sounds scrumptious.

Sorry Sweet Melisssa’s baking cookbook, you’re on hold until further notice. ;)

Don’t forget to sign up to Win a $30 gift certificate from Skimbaco or Suri Cruise’s Ladybug shoes.

Dear Hormones…or Iowa weather

Posted on May 12th, 2008 in Uncategorized by Darla

Yeah whichever of you, 39-year old hormones or Iowa weather is causing my hair to schmuck to my head and my face to glow like Crisco on a frying pan, please stop it.

I know I’m overdue for a hair cut - I’m going tomorrow right away in the AM, so I’ll have that covered - but my SKIN!  What is UP WITH THAT!!!   I just noticed I’ve gone through almost all of my mineral foundation in a very short amount of time…I must be burning up the frump!  Now that I have a social life again (thank you Mr Depression for leaving me alone, so I can once again enjoy having fun with my friends, I do appreciate it) I am usin up the minerals!   YAY ME!

And this Iowa weather, it’s blowing like crazy (we live in tornado alley, I swear it blows so hard) but it’s already HUMID!  This morning we had on the heat, now by tonight we’ll need to run the air JUST to get the humdity out so we can sleep.

I know I should be used to this after all these years, but I’m not.  I have a feeling I may never get used to it at this stage of the game.

I want to move to Arizona.  Any Arizona people out there today?  I’d love to move in, got room?

Hallway sneak peek

Posted on May 12th, 2008 in Decorating by Darla

I haven’t found the perfect items to put on my little shelves yet, I’ll update it when I do. I also have the other side of the hallway done but will share that later in the week (one of the pictures from there will be featured on Thursday, when I join We Are THAT Family for a trip down memory lane, stay tuned!).

I framed my favorite Mother Teresa quote.  We had the crosses, so those worked our great.  I found the little shelving on a BOGO at Kohl’s. SCORE!

I had purchased the wall word “Believe” for a different area of my home but it fit here the best so I used it. This our wedding picture (which was featured last Thursday) along with a set of pictures of our little guy catching & batting. They were the only time (so far) that we’ve had professional pictures taken. I guess more much more impromptu than sit down pictures….dunno why!
